 Written Into Stone
« Thread Started on Sept 28, 2007, 7:31pm »

It's June 2045
and the world is in complete darkness.
The sun has outdated itself and has imploded
as a result, leaving parts of the
world still underwater and most of Africa and
parts of Europe on fire after it's massive
implosion.

Many of those in the Northern Hemisphere
managed to survive however for several years,
adjusting to the loss of God-given daylight
and refusing to use the benefit of the
electric lighting after the electric
companies raised the prices unbearably high.
Many of the people at first were adjusting to
the darkness, others were planning and
praying with their families for protection
against the nocturnal creatures of the night
that had recently been spotted in several of
the forest areas that had survived after
implosion but now what they are worrying
about is the drastic loss of food.

Now that there is no more sun, it is close to
impossible to grow crops of any kind unless
you are a millionaire and can afford all of
the electric lighting for a large field of
crops.

But the moon lives on, bigger and brighter
than ever she shines down on the slowly
morphing human beings below her. Watching as
they transform into monsters of the night.

-------------

It's October 2046,
food itself has run almost completely out and
the only thing left to eat is fish and their
population has been getting lower and lower
every month, almost catching up to the human
population.

People now crave the feel and taste of their
own pale and chilled flesh, always biting at
loose scabs and wounds to have a taste of
whatever is left in their empty veins that
lead to no where. They are getting violent
and irritable, reeking havoc everywhere they
go. Some of the people who feared the
monsters in the forest had good reason to
fear for they were no normal faerie tale
beast. These were the monsters you see in
your nightmares, the ones you laughed about
in the tent in the backyard at night with
your friends, the ones you now hide from in
the back of your closet, trying not to cry
out in terror every time you hear a mouse
scurry across the floor by your toe.

The men and women in the forest, before the
sun had exploded had been subject to terrible
mutation and transformation. The sun itself
had released an awful toxin, transforming
them all into beasts and monsters. Most of
them turned into terrible nonliving souls that
crave the very ruby substance that is so rare
it could be called money rather than blood.
Others transformed into terrible monsters
every month at the turn of the full moon,
dreading that awful howl to escape their
throats as the painful transformation takes
place. Others the same as their species
sometimes choose to stay in their form, only
changing back when they have to, staying
fearsome and terrifying to everyone around
them. Others of course were lucky to have
been hidden from the toxin and remained human
and in perfect health, but strangely found
that they could not die no matter what they
did.

Some of the men in the large rural town of
Edinburgh, Scotland band together as a large
traveling group known as the "Fantôme
Chasseurs" better translated as Phantom
Hunters, hunting down the monsters around the
world, only stopping when necessary. The band
of men left most of their family except the
ones that could not bear to leave their wives
and what children they had left, trying not
to think of the incredible danger that comes
along with bringing such valuable lives.

-------------

NOW, times are
just as bad even though it is just past
Christmas and going into the year 2047 where
the dreams are just as cold and frost bitten
as the weather outside. Men, women and
children are quickly being turned into the
dying and the undead and it is up to everyone
else to stay safe, hidden away under the moss
blanketed and termite ridden floorboards,
never to be found while other like the
Fantôme Chasseurs and others like them whose
hearts are tainted with both courage and
stupidity who choose to go out into the
night, putting themselves at risk of being
infected.

Where will you go?

FOOTNOTE:
>During the implosion the moon was hit with massive radiation and so it will continue shining forever.
>The white dwarf of the sun still lives on, continuing it's circulation around the world that it used to brighten. Since the dwarf is still there and in circulation, the moon is still making it's monthly movements.
>The people are able to survive the deathly cold weather because I say they do, some may die because they cannot handle it but the people live through the cold.
>Many of the forests are on fire like I mentioned above, but many of those fires were put out with mass amounts of water, thanks to the more advanced fire departments who lent out their helicopters that hadn't been completely lost in the implosion of the sun.
